Troopster Packs Medical Essentials Kits for Health Care Workers in Need

NORFOLK, VA - Troopster® Donation Corp with volunteers from the community began a two-day packing initiative today to make 1,000 medical essential care packages for healthcare workers fighting COVID-19. The local Hampton Roads event is taking place at Troopster headquarters located at 730 w. 20th St., Norfolk, VA 23517.

“We are working with many local distributors and volunteers to help supply nurses, hospitals, doctors and healthcare workers with packages that will include N-95 masks, gloves and items that these individuals need to help fight COVID,” said Chelsea Mandello, CEO and Founder of Troopster.

Troopster has prepared the packing event to take place in a “COVID-Conscious” environment. Taking precautions and implementing a volunteer minimum entry, social distancing procedures, mandatory temperature check station, hand-washing station and the utilization of robotics to help limit the potential interaction of volunteers.

“This will be very different from our usual pack events,” said Travis DiPerna, Operation’s Manager at Troopster. “During normal packing events, we would have anywhere from 100- 400 volunteers helping to make hundreds of care packages for U.S. troops. Today, we are working to help our healthcare heroes, while also taking great precaution to pack in an environment in which everyone feels safe.”

Both local and national organizations have sponsored and donated to help support this initiative to include Frontier Technology, Inc (FTI), Colgate-Palmolive ®, KIND Bars®, SpartanNash, Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group, Kenmore Envelope, Emerson Healthcare and individual contributors through GoFundMe.

“These medical kits will be delivered to Sentara hospital, nursing facilities, hospice care, and to other healthcare locations in need of protective equipment,” said Chelsea.

The event is spread over two days, with a rollover day on Thursday. Each day is broken into volunteer shifts of two hours per group of maximum 50 volunteers, in order to maintain social distancing protocols during this event. The dates are from June 16-18. Volunteers can sign up at https://timecounts.org/troopster/opportunities/events.
